Cabinet denies extension to MSS in PBS, orders fresh hiring

ISLAMABAD: Following opposition by the Establishment Division for not granting extension to MP scale officers, the federal cabinet has rejected a summary to grant extension of four years to Sarwar Gondal as Member Support Services in Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The cabinet has now directed the Planning Ministry and authorities concerned to initiate a fresh recruitment process.
When contacted, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that the cabinet had rejected the summary for granting extension to the tenure of Sarwar Gondal as Member Support Services in the PBS. “The cabinet has ordered a fresh recruitment process” he added.

Imagine a herd of giraffes, a herd of elephants and a pride of lions in a jungle, all of whom need to choose their respective group leaders by putting the candidates through a test.
Sanity would suggest holding group-specific tests devised with relevant criteria for each herd or pride. But if the same rubber-stamp test with similar contents was used for all the groups, wouldn’t this defy logic? It certainly would.
The same absurdity is part of the bureaucratic system of Pakistan. Based on the Annual Confidential Report (ACR), every government official is assessed for their performance and given a promotion.
Loadshedding duration witnessed down trend in 2019-20: NEPRA

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has said that the duration of load-shedding has been decreased in FY 2019-20 as compared to previous years, but it can be eliminated if the distribution companies (DISCOs) avail 100 percent of their allocated quota of power.
According to Performance Evaluation Report for Year 2019-20 issued by the regulator, the Authority has serious reservations over the authenticity of data regarding load shedding being carried out by DISCOs in their service territories. It also came to the knowledge of NEPRA that DISCOs are carrying out load management as per AT&C losses criteria. It was noted with concern that in FY 2019-20, no any noticeable improvement in the performance of DISCOs has been observed, the report said.
