Case study: LFC Connect is life-enhancing Avid Red, Colette, is a people-person.
At 91-years old, she enjoys nothing more than sitting down and having a good chat. Speaking to friends, old and new, listening to the stories they have to tell and learning about their lives.
Whoever you are, or wherever you’re from, retired nurse Colette is always interested in hearing your tale.
So, when lockdown hit back in March 2020, Colette found that her opportunities to meet new people and enjoy an interesting conversation became severely limited.
Registered blind, she lives in extra care sheltered accommodation in the Croxteth area.
LFC supports Radio City Cash for Kids: Mission Christmas As part of Liverpool FC s Operation Christmas Magic campaign, the club supported Radio City Cash for Kids: Mission Christmas to ensure no child would wake up on Christmas Day without a gift.
The festive initiative raised more than £1.3 million in total, with the club donating 1,750 gifts and contributing more than £5,000 of donations from its own fundraising activity.
The club also reached out to the wider LFC family, who donated new and unwrapped gifts at official stores in Liverpool and Chester. All donations were provided to children living in the Liverpool City Region, who would have otherwise woken up on Christmas Day without a toy or gift.
Reds deliver some festive magic to the local community Liverpool FC has joined together with some of its partners and delivered 1,500 Christmas food hampers to local residents in Anfield and Kirkby as part of its Operation Christmas Magic campaign.
The hampers included fresh food to prepare a turkey roast dinner and a host of festive treats. Club partners AXA, Cadbury, Joie, Lavazza, NH Foods and Quorn also supported the Christmas food hampers to ensure they had that extra special touch.
Joie also invited a surprise guest to help deliver the hampers – Father Christmas and his elf made a special appearance in the Joie taxi to add a bit of extra festive fun.
LFC Foundation and Cadbury bring festive cheer to local care home residents LFC Foundation and Cadbury have teamed up to bring some festive cheer to care home residents and those in need in Liverpool ahead of Christmas.
The club’s official global chocolate partner provided 400 Christmas-themed Dairy Milk bars as part of its recent Secret Santa Campaign, which participants from LFC Foundation’s #iWill programme sent on to local care homes and community groups alongside a personalised, hand-drawn Christmas message.
Seven local care homes received the special festive envelopes this week, as well as homeless charity, Whitechapel Centre, and a refuge centre for local women and children.
Watch: LFC s Christmas community carol service Liverpool FC s community team, Red Neighbours, is hosting its first-ever virtual community Christmas carol service this year, as a result of not being able to host the service at Anfield due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The popular annual event usually takes place at Anfield in the run-up to Christmas, with more than 500 guests attending – including local schools, residents, community groups, LFC staff and players.
This year’s festive service, which will be hosted by the club’s chaplain Bill Bygroves, will feature performances from Four Oaks Primary School and Daisy Inclusive UK, readings by Margaret Aspinall, LFC Women players Taylor Hinds and Rachel Furness, and Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker – plus a very special Christmas message from manager Jürgen Klopp.
