That message from the South Nation Conservation Authority given the recent milder weather and the deteriorating ice conditions. The normal deadline is March 15 but the SNCA says the ice in some areas is 15-19 centimeters (6-7.5 inches) thick. It usually recommends at least 15 centimeters for walking and upwards of 30 centimeters (12 inches) for other activities.

South Glengarry man charged in child pornography investigation

(Newswatch Group/Bill Kingston, File) SOUTH GLENGARRY – A local man is facing seven charges following a child pornography investigation that involved police in the United Kingdom. SD&G O.P.P. say the 28-year-old man was arrested Friday (Feb. 26). He is charged with adult possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, failing to comply with a release order, invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault on a person younger than 16, sexual interference and publication of child pornography. In addition to the U.K. police, the O.P.P. says the investigation involved the O.P.P. Digital Forensic Unit, Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Cornwall Police Service and the RCMP.

Cornwall forges ahead with climate change plan despite confusion

The plan voted on Monday night will see a full-time employee dedicated to the role of Sustainable Operations Project Coordinator to devise a zero carbon road map. “The report asks for a cost analysis (of greenhouse gas emissions) and I don’t really see a cost analysis in the actual body of the report,” Coun. Dean Hollingsworth said in asking for a deferral. “I think you would see numbers, but I don’t see a lot of numbers in the report.”
