Two Panama City Florida suspects arrested with a half kilo of cocaine

The News Herald/USA TODAY NETWORK The News Herald PANAMA CITY Two Panama City suspects are in jail facing drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop that netted a half-kilo of cocaine Sunday night.  According to a press release from the Bay County Sheriff s Office, Trenton Maurice Davis, 25, and April Wilson, 26, both of Panama City, have been charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  BCSO investigators made the arrests during a traffic stop on U.S. 231, close to State 20 about 10 p.m. Sunday. During the stop, a K9 drug detection dog alerted officers to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle, the press release states. During a search of the vehicle, investigators found a half-kilo of cocaine and about $5,000 in cash, the release said. 

Panama City gets new Xfinity store from Comcast

According to a news release from Comcast, the store will feature a full range of products and services, including Xfinity Internet, Xfinity X1, Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity Voice and Xfinity Home products. The latest mobile devices from Apple, Google, LG, Motorola and Samsung, as well as wireless accessories, are available for purchase. Customers also can pay bills, get answers to account-related questions and return old equipment or pick up new equipment, the release said. Comcast has implemented several new store policies to address COVID-19 safety measurements, including requiring face coverings for all employees and customers, practicing social distancing measures, limiting the number of customers in the store, installing plexiglass dividers between interaction areas, kiosks and on workstations and cleaning stores professionally twice every day, the release said. 

COVID Panama City: Bay County Florida maintains drop in new cases

The county also saw a drop in COVID-19-related deaths. The county confirmed 11 COVID-19-related deaths in the past week, down from 17 deaths a week earlier. To date, 318 residents with COVID-19 have died. Meanwhile, the health department and the state continue efforts to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to frontline health care workers and residents 65 years old and older. During the past week, the health department offered 200 COVID-19 vaccine appointments for homebound seniors at the Bay County Council on Aging through a partnership with the Bay County Commission, Bay County Emergency Management, Bay County Transportation and the Bay Town Trolley. The health department also offered 300 appointments at the Callaway Arts and Conference Center and provided about 1,100 second doses of the vaccine.

Panama City Beach Florida man arrested in Jamaican lottery scam

The News Herald/USA TODAY NETWORK The News Herald PANAMA CITY BEACH The Bay County Sheriff s Office has arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a Jamaican lottery scam and recovered $10,000 taken from a victim. Garinton Moore, 50, of Patronis Drive in Panama City Beach, was charged with being a principal to scheme to defraud.  According to a press release from the Sheriff s Office, the investigation began when the BCSO received a call Monday from a sheriff s deputy in Logan County, Kentucky. The deputy said a man in his jurisdiction was concerned he had been scammed and had filed a report with the Logan County Sheriff s Office. The man said he sent $10,000 in cash to Moore at a Bay County address to pay taxes and receive his Jamaican lottery winnings, the release said.

Five Panama City Florida suspects arrested in shooting case

According to a news release from the Bay County Sheriff s Office, arrested were: Kevan Vital, 26, Panama City  armed robbery; aggravated battery with a firearm; possession of methamphetamine Diyontaie Robinson, 22, Panama City armed robbery; violation of probation Katlyn Lee, Washington County accessory after the fact to armed robbery; accessory after the fact to aggravated battery with a firearm Zach Yarborugh, 26, Panama City accessory after the fact to armed robbery; accessory after the fact to aggravated battery with a firearm  Montavious Walden, 27, Panama City accessory after the fact to armed robbery; accessory after the fact to aggravated battery with a firearm The investigation began when BCSO officers responded to a residence on Houston Street to find a 23-year-old man lying in a yard with a gunshot wound through his arm and into his abdomen. Deputies began life-saving measures until EMS arrived minutes later and rushed the victim to a local hospital
