Drug dealer Abdul Hamid was jailed for 18 years at Chelmsford Crown Court

The ringleader of a multi-million pound Essex drugs ring who enjoyed a champagne lifestyle has been jailed along with his girlfriend and two associates.
Abdul Hamid ran the Tariq drug line selling cocaine mainly in Chelmsford, Maldon, Heybridge and the Dengie Peninsula.
Hamid, his girlfriend Danielle Stevenson-Roberts and associates Murshed Uddin and Lloyd Bridge were jailed at Chelmsford Crown Court today.

During the investigation, officers discovered the drugs line was prolific and operated around 20 hours every day - potentially making millions of pounds in profit.
Hood, 39, of Spenser Way and McGarity, 27, were both jailed for three years and nine months.
Investigating officer PC Mark Dundon called on the public to report any other examples of cuckooing to police.
PC Dundon said: “Gee, Hood and McGarity were part of a drugs line that took advantage of a vulnerable woman by taking over her home to set up a base from which to sell drugs.
“This is a common tactic used by drugs gangs, who use manipulation, intimidation and threats of violence to exploit vulnerable people and children.
“They use the same methods to control their own gang members and assert authority over rivals.

Witnesses said Rajibul Hoque had swerved in and out of lanes at high speed to overtake and undertake other vehicles on the M11. The 20-year-old lost control of his brother s Peugeot 206 after he undertook some vehicles, crossed the hard shoulder and crashed into a tree just past junction 7 in North Weald.
