MILFORD - Pike County Commissioners, April 7, issued several proclamations, bringing recognition to the value of public libraries; sexual assault awareness; child abuse prevention and senior volunteers.

A resolution was passed for National Libraries Week. Rose Ciocchi, director of Pike County Public Library, welcomed the public to stop in at the library. Face masks are required. There are no in-person programs at this time, but they have a lot of virtual programming, online. Examples are Story Time and various book clubs.
She said that attendance is down, but since the COVID-19 pandemic started, e-resource usage has almost doubled. The Library is investing more money into electronic resources and is partnering with library systems in Wayne, Lackawanna, Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.
Free The Girls: Bra drive to fight human trafficking

WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. For January, the Victims Intervention Program (VIP) of Wayne and Pike Counties is participating in a bra drive called Free the Girls: Fight Human Trafficking, in honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
The drive raises money to help women rescued from sex trafficking reintegrate into their communities. We send them away, and survivors of human trafficking can actually start a business or use it for their business to make a sustainable income, said VIP executive director Michele Wolf.
