MSU s FTE finally decides to seek NBA accreditation | Vadodara News

Cap Vadodara: After much delay, M S University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) is finally going to accreditate its programmes from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Although not mandatory, for reasons unknown, the faculty simply did not make any efforts to get its courses accredited from NBA all these years. Not just private colleges and universities, even grant-in-aid engineering colleges have got their programmes accredited from NBA that was initially established by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to carry out periodic evaluations of technical institutions and programmes based on standards recommended by AICTE council.

MSU Baroda MSU’s alumni network comprising alumni from India and United States in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Affairs and Donors Relations had last year launched vision 2020 to inspire students of FTE with incubator initiative as one of the programmes. The incubator had received 25 proposals from techo students. After a structured, diligent evaluation process, 15 teams were invited to pitch their startup ideas before the incubator council which was composed of selected faculty members and alumni. Each of the top five teams was awarded a seed funding of Rs 50,000 to build their product and compete for the top award of Rs 1 lakh. Along the way, all participating students went through several webinars on entrepreneurship and each of the top five teams got mentoring support from the alumni.

NSS Techo inks record for largest virtual self-defence camp | Vadodara News

Vadodara: The National Service Scheme (NSS) at M S University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE), NSS Techo, has made it to the India Book of Records for hosting the largest virtual self-defence camp. It was on March 7 this year that volunteers associated with NSS Techo had organized the first ever online self-defence camp. With participants registering for the camp, it was recognized as the biggest ever held on a virtual platform. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India also appreciated it on its official Twitter handle. “The camp was organized with the objective of spreading awareness among the youth and making them learn the basic techniques of self-defence. The camp has been recognized as being ‘the largest virtual self-defence camp’ by the Indian Book of Records,” said Dr Arvind S Mohite, NSS Techo’s program officer, who organized the camp.

Manhar Katariya Vadodara: A mechanical engineering graduate from M S University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) has bagged All India Rank (AIR) 18 in the Indian Engineering Services (IES) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Manhar Katariya, a farmer’s son, is the only one from Gujarat to have cleared IES in mechanical engineering stream apart for emerging amongst top 20. The exam for gazette class 1 post is conducted by UPSC in three phases – prelims, mains and interview round. “I feel fortunate that I have been selected in the very first attempt. Also, I feel lucky that I am the only candidate from Gujarat and amongst 41 students from across the country to be selected in my stream,” said Manhar, whose father Chhagan Katariya, is a farmer in Vaghnagar near Mahuva taluka in Bhavnagar district.
