Whanganui business Axiam Plastics has increased its staff from 90 last year to 140 this year, and taken on some of the workers laid off by Mars Petcare.
The growth has come from some new customers, but also from existing customers wanting more product, general manager Matthew Smith said.

FRANKLIN, Tenn., March 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Today, PEDIGREE Foundation announced the opening of its 2021 grant cycle, which provides funds to U.S. shelters and rescues working to help dogs find loving homes. This year, the Foundation aims to give $1 million to shelters and rescues, including annual grants for programs that increase dog adoption and support for disaster relief, provided on an as-needed basis.

Since its inception in 2008, PEDIGREE Foundation has given more than $9 million through 5,700+ grants, working with organizations that support its missions of ending pet homelessness and helping dogs find their forever homes. Applications for the 2021 grant cycle will be accepted now through May 7, 2021 and can be completed online.
Mars Petcare recently welcomed a new leader to its Franklin headquarters, as Ikdeep Singh took the role of regional president for Mars Pet Nutrition North America in January.
Singh comes to Mars Petcare with 20-plus years of experience in the consumer goods industry. He takes the role of Mark Johnson, who stepped down from the position to pursue another opportunity within the company.
While Singh now oversees some of the biggest pet brands in the country â Pedigree, Sheba and Iams â he has previously worked on growing brands within other major companies, such as the LâOréal Group and Procter and Gamble.
