Covid: 1 3m face-to-face Cheshire GP appointments carried out in a year | Chester and District Standard

NEW figures reveal how many face-to-face appointments were conducted by Cheshire s GP practices over a 12-month period during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges presented by coronavirus, a total of 1.3 million face-to-face appointments took place between April 1, 2020 and March 31 this year. GP practices across the county also conducted the same number of telephone and video appointments, as well as processing more than 52,000 referrals and issuing more than 13 million prescriptions. Dr Andrew Wilson, Clinical Chair of NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said the figures showcase the breadth of work in primary care to support local people. “There’s no doubt that 2020-21 was a year like no other for everyone working in health and care,” he said. “But despite the many, many challenges we have all faced, Cheshire’s GP practices have worked hard to support local people with both Covid and non-Covid related health issues.

High Sheriff of Cheshire thanks everyone working on Covid vaccination programme

VOLUNTEERS and staff who have worked tirelessly to roll out Covid jabs have been commended. The High Sheriff of Cheshire Robert Mee has paid tribute to everyone involved in the county’s Covid-19 vaccination programme. Dr Andrew Wilson and Clare Watson, chairman and accountable officer of NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), accepted a High Sheriff’s Award from Robert Mee DL on behalf of everyone involved in the local Programme. On a visit to the GP-led vaccination service in Middlewich, Mr Mee spoke of his admiration for the tireless work of health and care staff and reserved special praise for the vital role of volunteers.

More than nine in 10 Cheshire West people aged 50+ have now had Covid vaccine

MORE than nine in 10 Cheshire West and Chester residents aged 50 and above have now received their first Covid vaccine. Figures revealed by Cheshire West and Chester Council s director of public health Ian Ashworth showed a total of 92 per cent of those aged 50 and over had now been given at least one dose of a Covid vaccine. This is higher than the England average of 89 per cent. The figures were revealed at CWaC s latest Covid Outbreak Board meeting on Wednesday, April 21. It has since been revealed that for the NHS Cheshire CCG area, 54.1 per cent of those aged 45-49 have received their first dose of the jab. Those aged 45-49 without underlying health issues were eligible to book their vaccine appointments only 10 days ago.

All Cheshire West and Chester care home residents now vaccinated against Covid

ALL residents living in care homes across Cheshire West and Chester have now been vaccinated against Covid-19. The fantastic statistics from Cheshire West and Chester Council for the borough show that 100 per cent of residents and more than 80 per cent of staff members have been vaccinated. These figures exceed the national safe level for protection against Covid-19 laid down by government scientific advisers with the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). This latest positive news comes in the wake that care settings across the borough are currently free from Covid-19 infection. Ian Ashworth, Director of Public Health said: “This is a massive achievement and we would like to thank all our care staff across the adult care sector for making this possible and for their dedication and commitment to ensuring the residents in their care remain protected.
