Denny Philpin, 35, of Meadow Drive, Barnton, Northwich, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to assaulting David Harazny, whose dog had left a large mess in the road. Chester Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday, March 9 the confrontation began between the two men after Mr Harazny did not clean up the dog poo. Prosecuting, Alan Currums said Philpin was in his car with his children at the time of the incident in Northwich on December 5, 2020, and shouted at Mr Harazny to clean the dog mess up.

Christmas Eve Cheshire Oaks shoplifter armed with blade jailed

A SHOPLIFTER who stole a coat from a Cheshire Oaks store on Christmas Eve has been jailed. Catalin Cazan, 37, had gone to the retail complex while in possession of a de-tagger and a knife concealed in a fake credit card. Appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, March 5, Cazan - of Ashton Road, Oldham - was jailed for 20 weeks. His accomplice, 25-year-old Andrei Iulian Taran, of Villa Road, had also been caught shoplifting, but was handed an 18-month community order. Prosecuting, Alan Currums said Taran was seen stealing a Timberland coat. Staff checked CCTV and both Cazan and Taran were involved in the shoplifting.

Chester woman used stolen bank card to go on Greyhound Retail Park spending spree

Chester Magistrates Court A WOMAN who had misplaced her bank card at Chester s Greyhound Retail Park later discovered someone had used it at three stores. Purchases of cigarettes, alcohol and groceries totalling £168.56 were made at Asda and Tesco, and an attempted purchase made at B&M Bargains. The woman who had used the car fraudulently was Samantha Hall, 34, who appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, February 15 to plead guilty to stealing a purse and its contents, fraudulently using that bank card at Asda and Tesco on the retail park, and attempting to use the same card at B&M Bargains.

Chester motorist who stopped after hitting pedestrian arrested for drug-driving

Chester Magistrates Court. A CHESTER motorist who hit a pedestrian who had stepped out into the road was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving for the second time. Joseph Leonard Brett, 21, of Lache Lane, then refused to give a blood test in custody, saying he was scared of needles , despite having given the required drugs test on a previous occasion. Appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, February 15, Brett – who pleaded guilty to two counts of drug-driving and a charge of failing to provide a specimen for analysis – was handed a suspended sentence. Prosecuting, Simon Green said the first offence happened at 12.50am on August 2, 2020, when Brett was driving on the A5119 in Northop, Flintshire, in a red Volkswagen Golf.
