CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. Approximately 22,000 people have signed up to be placed on the Chesterfield Health Districtâs COVID-19 vaccine waiting list, according to Emergency Planner David Woods.
âYou see how many of your folks want vaccinated,â Woods told the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors during a vaccination update on Wednesday.
The sign-up form was activated on Monday after an admittedly rocky start for vaccination efforts in the county.
âThe lists of tasks we have to address is growing literally every day, much of which is a function of having been thrown into this rather quickly,â Chesterfield Health District (CHD) District Director Dr. Alexander Samuel explained during the presentation. âEvery health district right now is overwhelmed with calls.â

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. The Chesterfield Health District has launched an online tool to help residents pre-register to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
While the tool does not reserve a vaccine, it does collect contact information, so the Virginia Department of Health can contact residents to make an appointment once the vaccine is available.
Those who are in Phase 1a or 1b can now pre-register online. Phase 1b includes police, fire, corrections, homeless shelter workers, as well as teachers and childcare workers.
Chesterfield Health District Director Dr. Alexander Samuel said the new tool will help the department expedite the vaccine process.
