Orji Kalu And 2023 Presidency

Sufuyan Ojeifo writes that Kalu is conversant with the dynamics of presidential power politics I watched and listened to the interview that a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, granted on Sunday, April 25, 2021, on Channels Television’s “Politics Today”, anchored by Seun Okinbaloye. To be sure, Kalu is the Senate Chief Whip, and on both scores of political accomplishments, his qualification to speak on the number of issues that the interviewer attempted to interrogate through his perspectives cannot be faulted. Kalu answered questions on the festering insecurity in the country and the burgeoning controversy over 2023 presidency. He alluded to some between-and-betwixt issues during the engagement. I had many takeaways from the interview session. But the crux of the takeaways, which I consider the real McCoy, was Kalu’s response to the question that bordered on his purported interest in the 2023 presidency.

Insecurity: Seeking Foreign Support Doesn t Mean We Lack Capacity – Sule – Channels Television

Seeking foreign support to tackle the myriad of security challenges in the country does not mean the Federal Government lacks the capacity to address the issue. This is according to the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who said countries usually call for help during war situations. Nigeria has been experiencing series of security challenges ranging from kidnappings to banditry, insurgency to militancy, armed robbery to cultism, calls for secession among several others. In the past week, at least 239 people were killed and 44 others kidnapped in separate violent incidents across the country, mostly by armed non-state actors. The violence is not limited to any state, ethnic group, or religion. It is a general problem that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is finding difficult to curb.

Most Arms Used By Insurgents Were Stolen From The Armed Forces – Senator Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume has said the bulk of arms and ammunition used by insurgents were carted away from the armed forces and other security agencies in the country. Ndume who represents Borno South noted that apart from stealing arms from Nigeria’s security agencies, the criminals also get weapons from nations like Libya and Chad. “Most of the arms and ammunition they use are the ones they succeed in carting away from the Nigerian soldiers and other armed forces or security agencies,” the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, explained on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Insecurity: Seeking US support doesn t mean Buhari lacks capacity, says Sule

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 30 April 2021 Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, says asking for United States assistance to tackle the menace of kidnappings and killings does not mean the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rted.), lacks capacity to crush the bandits and terrorists in the country. He, however, said the country needed foreign support in terms of superior equipment and technology. Sule, who is a member of the President’s party, –the All Progressives Congress – stated this on Friday while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme monitored by The PUNCH. From Maiduguri in North-East Nigeria to Mbaise in the South-East; and from Kafanchan in the North-West to Kajola in the South-West, the killings and kidnappings soar, almost unprecedented.

Insecurity: Things Are Getting From Bad To Worse – Lawmaker

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army, Honourable Abdulrazak Namdas has lamented the deteriorating state of insecurity in the country, saying things are getting worse. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Namdas lamented the inadequate personnel of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies. “I agree that things are getting from bad to worse but let us sit together and re-strategize and see how we can solve the problem,” he said. Worried by the worsening security situation, the lower chamber had on March 17 set up a special committee to come up with solutions to the security challenges in the country.
