Via Rollingstone.com. Dustin Diamond, better known as Samuel “Screech” Powers from Saved By The Bell, has died after a three-week battle with carcinoma. He was 44.
His agent, Roger Paul, told
Rolling Stone, “He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”
Screech was the kid on Saved By The Bell who somehow managed to be the biggest dork at school, but he still hung out with the coolest kids. Dustin managed to stay with the show through the re-launches,
