Govt asked to abolish Section 4-A of Service Tribunal Act

National May 6, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Secretaries Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday asked the government to abolish Section 4-A of the Service Tribunal Act. The association’s president Liaquat Khan Jhagra, senior vice president Taufiq Ayub and general secretary Hadiyat Shah said that the Service Tribunal Act empowered the employees to file an appeal in the service tribunal if the provincial government or department did any injustice with them or usurped their rights. They said that under Section 4- A of the Service Tribunal Act the affected employees had to file a departmental appeal before filing an appeal against the provincial government. They said that an appellant had to wait for 90 days to move the service tribunal, which was illogical.

Arabic language bill gets Senate’s nod Proposed legislation makes Arabic a mandatory subject from class 1 to 12 ISLAMABAD: The upper house of the parliament has approved a bill that makes Arabic language a mandatory subject from class 1 to class 12. According to the bill, basic Arabic will be taught from class-1 to class-5 while Arabic grammar will be taught from class-6 to class-12. All lawmakers supported the bill moved by Senator Javed Abbasi of the PML-N except Senator Raza Rabbani of the PPP, who declared it “an attempt by the state to impose the Arabic culture”. Rabbani said: “Arabic should be taught as an optional subject. Making it compulsory will be inappropriate.”
