Future Prospects Of Shipping COVID-19 Vaccines By Sea

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc. April 10, 2021 © scaliger/AdobeStock The lucrative prospect of transporting COVID-19 vaccines by sea has intensified the spotlight on the maritime industry’s cold supply chain and its ability to carry high-value pharmaceuticals. At present, speed to market is critical to stemming the spread of the pandemic, so the vaccines are being shipped by air to international destinations. Delivering them by sea is a longer-term strategy; certainly, the present urgency would have to calm considerably before enough confidence could be built to support delivery times in weeks, rather than hours. An international group of hackers breached the network of Verkada, a California-based security start-up, and accessed live feeds of nearly 150,000 surveillance cameras. Surveillance footage from more than twenty four thousand schools, hospitals, prisons, and companies, including Tesla, Cloudflare, and the Verkada offices, some of which had built-in facial recognition capabilities, were accessible to the hackers. The hackers said they unintentionally found the log-in details for a Verkada “Super Admin” account publicly exposed on the internet. A Verkada spokesperson said the company has closed the breach and launched an investigation into the incident.   Chinese Threat Actor Targets Microsoft Exchange Email Servers in Large-Scale Intrusion

Irdai forms panel to review security guidelines to deal with cyber-attacks

The economic situation owing to the pandemic has seen an exponential increase in cyber-attacks across the globe and in particular, the financial sector. This situation has necessitated regulators to re-look into their Cyber Security Guidelines applicable to all regulated entities in an effort to protect the financial systems, Irdai said in an order. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) had issued guidelines on cyber security in April 2017 as a part of its governance mechanism.
