Sonoma County Supervisors are reviewing possible new protections for workers and renters. The Board of Supervisors has directed county staff to draft new rules for a worker’s sick leave ordinance and broader renter’s protections by February 9th. The county is looking to extend paid sick leave to all employers in unincorporated portions of the county and not just those with over 500 employees. The board, though, continues to argue over broader renter protections as they’ve expressed overall support but are hesitant due to a lack of details surrounding a plan. Activists say expanded protections are needed immediately citing several loopholes being used to evict tenants unable to pay rent.
