Kesha Waters joins Tennessee Trial Court Vacancy Commission

Kesha Waters was recently appointed by Lt. Governor Randy McNally to serve on the Tennessee Trial Court Vacancy Commission.
The Trial Court Vacancy Commission operates under the authority of TCA § 17-4-301, a news release stated. When there is a vacancy to be filled in the trial courts, the Commission will accept applications from qualified attorneys, interview the applicants and then recommend three candidates to the governor for consideration.
Kesha Waters is the Executive Director of CASA of the TN Heartland.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee lawmakers are trimming in half Gov. Bill Lee’s spending wish list items on restaurant and grocery store sales tax holidays, broadband expansion and local government grants. Instead, they want to funnel the money into the state’s pension plan.
Committees in the Republican-supermajority Legislature on Wednesday released their tweaks to the GOP governor’s spending plan.
Their amendment also removes a major hurdle for a bill to create a new three-judge panel to hear challenges of state laws and policies, funding the project at $1.1 million recurring.
That’s despite conflict-of-interest concerns that the initial judges who will hear cases against the governor and his administration would be appointed by the governor, who would pick each judge from a slate of candidates provided by the Trial Court Vacancy Commission. The judges, one from each Grand Division of the state, would face partisan statewide elections

Nathaniel Ray Flinchbaugh: Senior associate general counsel for the Tennessee Department of Health, Office of General Counsel in Nashville.
Adrienne Gilliam Fry: Self-employed, private practice attorney at Fry & Ritchie, an association of attorneys in Clarksville.
Gregory D. Smith: Solo practice Clarksville attorney, part-time municipal judge in Pleasant View and part-time tribal appellate court judge.
M. Joel Wallace: Partner at Clarksville law firm of Cunningham, Mitchell & Rocconi.
Joseph P. Weyant: Attorney at the law office of Joe Weyant, Attorney At Law in Clarksville.
