NEW DELHI: In the book of life, people couldn’t wait to turn the page on 2020, but at long last, we have arrived in 2021. There is a lot of energy and zeal in the media and entertainment industry to make a fresh start and rebuild everything back to its pre-Covid2019 glory. No doubt, 2020 was tough, but it has taught us several lessons – like not taking things for granted and being ready to adapt to changes.
Despite all the odds and challenges, content creators, production houses, service providers and broadcasters kept the ball rolling for consumers as the entertainment did not stop. It was available to the audiences in one format or the other. These professionals worked to create relentlessly fresh and differentiated content, organised live sporting events, and kept viewers engaged.

After the success of Maharana Pratap, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Porus, and Peshwa Bajirao, among others, Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is all set to create magic with its new show Punyashlok Ahilyabai.
The historical drama set in the eighteenth century is based on the life of Ahilyabai Holkar, who with the support of her father-in-law Malhar Rao Holkar, defied the pre-defined norms of a patriarchal society. Produced by Dashami Creations and directed by Jackson Sethi, the serial will bring to life the courageous tales of Ahilyabai Holkar for the first time on Indian television. Sony Yay! teamed up with JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar and curated a Honey-Bunny themed special brunch called YAY! Christmas Brunch on Sunday, 20 December at JW Cafe. Giving young fans an enjoyable experience of the adorable duo up close and personal, the association witnessed Sony Yay! and JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar delight kids and patrons via a feast of delectable cuisines – inspired by the show Honey Bunny Ka Jholmaal, along with a series of interactive games, dance and a cute selfie booth to take home the fun memories.

KOLKATA: If there s one signal that 2020 strongly gave: it was that consumption of content via streaming, both video and audio, is here to stay. And media and entertainment organisations globally have to pivot around that change in viewing that has taken strong root; that they have to go direct to consumer.
Yes, the doomsayers have for a few years been shouting from the rooftops that the days of TV are numbered, considering the rash of consumers who have cut the cord on cable and satellite TV. Yes, media conglomerates have been pottering around with digital, not fully confident that Netflix’s streaming gambit is the future. But the Covid2019-induced lockdown, which accelerated digital adoption by a few years, not only allowed OTTs to take flight and soar, it also gave linear TV a new lease on life.
