Franklin NJ man, 23, killed in stabbing; suspect sought

View Comments FRANKLIN (Somerset) – A 23-year-old Somerset section man died after he was stabbed multiple times early Tuesday inside a Holland Drive residence, authorities said. Franklin police responded around 12:04 a.m. Tuesday to a residence on Holland Drive on a report of a victim who was injured in a physical altercation. The victim, identified as Jamari R. Stephenson, of Holland Drive, sustained multiple fatal stab wounds and was pronounced at the scene, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson. A motive for the attack or the identity of a potential suspect have not been released. The investigation remained ongoing Tuesday.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly after midnight about a man in distress after an altercation at a residence on Holland Drive in the township, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson. At the scene, officers found Jamari Stephenson stabbed “numerous” times in the home, Robertson said. Despite efforts by police and emergency medical services, Stephenson died at the scene, authorities said. Investigators have not released a possible motive for the killing and no suspects were immediately identified. A prosecutor’s office spokesman previously said Stephenson was attacked outside his home and managed to make it back inside.

NJ driving school instructor charged with sexual contact with students From Staff Reports SOMERVILLE – A driving school instructor in Central Jersey is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with two students during instruction sessions. Fifty-nine-year-old Steven Collucci of Dill’s Driving School was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual contact and lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office announced. In June 2020 a student, 16, reported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office that they were touched in a sexual manner by Collucci. The accuser said that while driving in the area of Bridgewater and Hillsborough in June 2017 during an instruction session, they were touched in a sexual manner by Collucci.
