Cargill will stop some of its cocoa operations at its Milwaukee facility and will lay off around 80 employees, the company said in a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.  The Company has made the decision to simplify operations and focus on our core activities of making chocolate and molding,  Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate Inc. wrote in the letter.  As a result, we are permanently discontinuing the operation of liquor grinding, dry grind, and retail packaging at the Milwaukee facility. The affected employees at the facility at 12500 W. Carmen Ave. were notified April 5. The facility will soon start winding down the operations that will be discontinued. The 12 salaried and 68 hourly positions will be eliminated on or around June 5, the company said.
