Arizona Lawmakers Sending Firearm Freedom Bill to Gov Doug Ducey s Desk

31 Mar 2021 Arizona’s Senate passed legislation Monday night to prohibit in-state enforcement of federal gun control laws which violate the Second Amendment. The bill, HB2111, is titled, “2nd Amendment Firearm Freedom Act.” It passed in the Arizona House on February 24, 2021. Text of HB2111 says: Pursuant to the sovereign authority of this state and article II, section 3, Constitution of Arizona, This state and all political subdivisions of this state are prohibited from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the United States government that is inconsistent with any law of this state regarding the regulation of firearms.

Democrat Tammy Duckworth: Congress Has Duty to Act on Gun Control

Tammy Duckworth (D) is promoting an “Assault Weapons” ban and suggesting that she is doing so in order that her daughters can grow up in a country that will “protect them.” Duckworth suggested that “Congress has a duty to act” on gun control and responded to Congressional refusal to pass more gun laws by saying, “enough is enough.” She tweeted: I don’t want my daughters to have to grow up in a country that won’t protect them from firearm violence. People are dying and Congress has a duty to act. My colleagues and I introduced a ban on assault weapons.

Psaki: Biden Looks Forward to Repealing Gun Maker Liability Shields

16 Mar 2021 White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is making clear President Joe Biden looks forward to repealing the “liability shields” that protect gun manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits. The Associated Press did an overview of the current gun control landscape, with H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446 both having passed in the House and now with the Senate. H.R. 8 would put in place universal background checks, criminalizing private gun sales via an expansion of the gun point-of-sale background check system. H.R. 1446 would increase the period of the FBI has for an extended, instant background check. Current time for an extension is three business days. H.R. 1446 would extend that to at least 10 business days.
