Veteran Jamaican Journalist Michael Sharpe Has Died

Sharpe, who was hospitalised in late March, passed away this morning. General Manager of Broadcast Services at the RJRGLEANER Communications Claire Grant confirmed his passing on social media. “It is with deep regret that TVJ, JNN, the RJRGLEANER Communications Group announces that our colleague, friend veteran broadcaster, newsman Michael Sharpe died this morning. Michael Sharpe The Police High Command is expressing condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Michael Sharpe, following his untimely death at a medical facility in St Andrew on Tuesday. Sharpe died early Tuesday morning aged 65 after battling illness for sometime. Sharpe was a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), where he served for approximately 24 years, having joined in March 1997 as a District Constable. Between 1997 and 2012, he was assigned to the St. Andrew Central Division, and then the Community Safety and Security Branch (CSSB). His work as a broadcaster, journalist and a member of the security forces, has inspired many and contributed significantly to nation building, the JCF said, adding that  He will be remembered as an inspirational and respected individual that dedicated much of his life to service.
