SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Jan 6: Kashmir region continued to remain cut off from the rest of the country as surface and air traffic was suspended for the fourth consecutive day due to heavy rain, snowfall and landslides even as two persons including a CRPF Sub Inspector were killed while over 100 structures were damaged as the rain wreak havoc across J&K.
Official sources said that Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sub Inspector identified as H C Murmu of 115 battalion was injured after a shed collapsed due to snowfall at former Hazratbal legislator Syed M Akhoon’s residence.
15 trapped in snowstorm rescued from Sarthal

JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, Dec 28: While at least 15 persons trapped in snow storm in Sarthal area of Bani Sub Division in Kathua were recued by GREF and Police team today, the heavy snowfall in many hilly areas of Jammu region including Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Kathua and Poonch areas over night blocked many roads whereas, power and water supply to a large number of snow bound areas has been snapped.
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which was blocked after snowfall in Jawahar Tunnel area last night, was restored at around 9.15 am today while Doda-Bhaderwah, Chenani-Latti-Dudu and Basantgarh roads besides Bani-Loang- Sarthal and many link roads in Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar. Poonch and Reasi area were blocked due to heavy snowfall of the season.

JAMMU, Dec 27: With rain and fresh snowfall lashing the higher reaches since this evening, entire Northern region including Jammu and Kashmir, has come under the grip of severe cold while traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained disrupted for over 10 hours near Ramban due to landslides.
Famous tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam in Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall today while world renowned pilgrimage- Mata Vaishnodevi shrine at Katra in district Reasi besides Patnitop, Nathatop and Sanasar tourist places of Jammu region also witnessed snowfall this evening. Entire Jammu region came in the grip of severe cold this evening.

Traffic on the 270-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was restored on Sunday morning after remaining suspended for over 14 hours due to a massive landslide in Ramban district, officials said.
The landslide struck the highway near Bhoom in Chanderkote area around 7 pm on Saturday, leaving over 2,000 Jammu-bound vehicles stranded.
Soon after the landslide, the road maintenance agency concerned pressed its men and machinery into action and managed to clear the highway of the debris during the clearance operation which continued throughout the night, the traffic department officials said.
The reopening of the highway around 9 am on Sunday came as a big relief to the stranded passengers, most of whom had to spend the night in their vehicles, the officials said.
