O-Zone: Past his prime

JACKSONVILLE – Our long national nightmare continues. Questions to this forum still aren t being received through the app. So, please continue submitting questions through the form on jaguars.com or via email at Joehser@gmail.com. Apologies for the continued inconvenience. Again. Let s get to it … Juanie from New Jersey Looking ahead to next offseason, what players are scheduled to become free agents that might have an impact on potential draft picks this year? If the staff is planning ahead for possible departures. Also, do you still keep track of the O-Zone streak? Curious to see what number it is up to now.

O-Zone: Hot topic

Zac from Austin, Tejas It has been well-established that Clemson University quarterback Trevor Lawrence is just different than others. But I know all year I heard about how Joe Burrow and Tua were going to change the league. For obvious reasons it didn t happen, but it s why I am really trying to throttle myself. Maybe I should just let go and hope for a good season, though. I don t know. Your nervousness is understandable. It s the fear of being disappointed by something you believe will be awesome. I was going to compare it to waiting for weeks to get Mattel Electronic Football (handheld) for Christmas in 1978 and then being disappointed, but who am I kidding? Electronic Football

O-Zone: Perfect match

Tom from Charlottesville, VA It is becoming annoying with all the talk about 3-4 and 4-3! Don t the fans know that the new defense will have 11 men on the line to rush the passer? Ah, you jest – but there understandably remains much interest in the Jaguars defensive scheme. I spoke to Jaguars defensive coordinator Joe Cullen about this for a story that will post on Jaguars.com in the coming days. I specifically asked how he would describe the defense, and would it be a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. He said while it will have elements of a 3-4 in some situations it also will have elements of a 4-3 in other situations. He said there will be many different looks and personnel groupings based on circumstance. There will be times, for example, when linebackers Myles Jack, Joe Schobert and defensive ends/linebackers K Lavon Chaisson and Josh Allen play at the same time – and there will be other times when those four players aren t on the field at the same time. This will be based on situations

O-Zone: Searching

Josh from Fernandina Beach, FL, via Fort Lauderdale Beach, FL What s up, Zone? I read recently that Trevor Lawrence s game, at least per his college statistics, doesn t demand a top-tier tight end for Lawrence to find overall success. I am as big a fan of Kyle Pitts as the next guy, but it seems like the more realistic use of a high draft pick by the Jaguars on an offensive skill-position player could be at receiver. I know the team has many needs, and receiver may not be at the top of the list, but it appears the Jaguars receiver room is one strong receiver away from being a formidable group, if not elite (assuming DJ Chark Jr. bounces back). What are your thoughts on this year s receiver draft class and do you believe any of the top-tier talent has a realistic possibility of being available at 25 (or at a trade-up position that may be within reasonable reach)? Thanks, and GO JAGS!!

Apr 1, 2021 As Trevon Grimes walked into the Florida Gators Indoor facility, preparing to work out for NFL coaches and scouts during the Gators Pro Day, he saw a familiar face; one he hadn’t seen in three years but who helped change his life. Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Urban Meyer was there on his old stomping grounds where he won two National Championships with the Gators (2006, 2008) and took in the pro day with his former coordinator and trusted confidant, Gators head coach Dan Mullen. He was also getting an up close look just down the road at possible Jaguars prospects in next year’s 2021 NFL Draft.
