WHITEVILLE A Chadbourn man was in custody Monday, charged in the slaying of a missing Bladen County woman whose body was found along a Chadbourn road last week.
Timothy Ray Cain II, 28, of Merritt Road, is charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the death of Jacqueline Lynn Landreth. Cain is also charged with two counts of probation violation.
The robbery charges allege that Cain stole Landreth’s truck, cash and cellphone while threatening her with a firearm, according to a news release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
He was arrested Friday in Cerro Gordo, two days after Landreth’s body was found along Klondyke Road in Chadbourn. Positive identification was made during an autopsy, according to the release. A cause of death has not been released.
