Virtual career fair hopes to fill teacher shortage in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, MI Educators hope a virtual career fair will help address a teacher shortage in Jackson County.
The Jackson County PreK-12 and Special Education Virtual Career Fair, a collaboration between the Jackson County Intermediate School District, Michigan Works! Southeast and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, is set for noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 28.
“We are currently experiencing a critical shortage of teachers in Jackson County, and in the state of Michigan, at a time when education is critical,” Jackson County ISD Assistant Superintendent Maureen Keene said. “We hope that this job fair will highlight the wonderful opportunities to teach in a great community, and will bring educators to Jackson County,”
