Plans are set to begin digging for a new dog park in Jackson.
The city of Jackson is inviting residents and their leashed pets to a groundbreaking celebration at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, at the site of Betty’s Dog Park, located at the corner of N. Blackstone and Van Buren streets.
The board has appointed Valerie Herr as the museum’s interim executive director, officials announced Monday.
Museum officials have formed a hiring committee to find and hire the next executive director, with a focus on effective leadership and bringing forth the museum’s mission, officials said.

JACKSON COUNTY, MI One lane of M-50 is closing in Napoleon Township next week for road maintenance.
Crews are closing a portion of the road between U.S. 127 and South Street on Tuesday, April 27, to complete ditch maintenance, weather permitting, Jackson County Department of Transportation officials said. The work is intended to preserve roads and facilitate proper drainage, officials said.

SPRING ARBOR TWP., MI – A roundabout to potentially make a Jackson County intersection near Western High School safer may be in the works.
Jackson County Department of Transportation officials are considering a 100-foot-wide roundabout at McCain and Dearing roads in Spring Arbor Township, with 200-feet long “splitter islands” or traffic control measures in the roads to set apart opposite lanes.

JACKSON, MI Jackson County residents age 50 and older who have medical vulnerabilities can start signing up on Monday, March 8, for a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
Vaccinating seniors and essential workers remains the Jackson County Health Department’s focus, but appointments for those in the newly eligible group will be scheduled as supply allows, officials said.

JACKSON, MI The Jackson County Health Department remains focused on getting the COVID-19 vaccine to senior citizens and essential workers.
As of Feb. 24, 35,791 doses have been administered to county residents by the Jackson County Health Department, Henry Ford Allegiance Health, pharmacies and other providers, state data shows.
