New Jersey Attorney General files discrimination lawsuit against Jackson New Jersey Attorney General files discrimination lawsuit against Jackson JACKSON – New Jersey law enforcement officials have filed an unlawful discrimination lawsuit against Jackson in which they claim that “in the exercise of the township’s power to regulate land use and housing, (Jackson officials) have unlawfully discriminated on the basis of creed against residents and prospective residents who are Orthodox Jews, in violation of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.” The lawsuit was announced in a press release from Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s office on April 27. According to the lawsuit, the case seeks to remedy unlawful discrimination by Jackson’s municipal government, including the Township Council, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Planning Board and Mayor Michael Reina.

Jackson school board introduces $150M budget for 2021-22 JACKSON – The members of the Jackson School District Board of Education have introduced a $150.6 million budget to fund the operation of the school district during the 2021-22 academic year. The budget will be supported in part by a tax levy of $97.5 million to be collected from Jackson’s residential and commercial property owners. The budget was introduced on March 17. A public hearing has been scheduled for April 28 during which residents may ask questions about the budget. The board may revise the budget until the public hearing is held. For the 2020-21 school year, the board adopted a $152.6 million budget. Property owners paid $95.79 million to support the budget.
