WBBJ TV March 12, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser presented two horseback riders with a letter and a Department Challenge Coin for their efforts in locating a missing child. Jackson City Council discusses police lease-purchase proposal, audit

Jackson City Council discusses police lease-purchase proposal, audit February 2, 2021 Wiser says those positions have been vacant, and they don’t plan on replacing them. Wiser says cutting those positions, saving on lower fuel costs, and getting rid of old cars will make up that $2 million on a lease-purchase proposal to buy new patrol vehicles. But Jackson city council members still want the proposal to go through the budget committee and possibly find a better interest rate. In a five to four vote, they tabled the motion to buy the new patrol cars. “In the past, we purchased three, four, five vehicles every year or so, depending on the amount of money. We actually have a long-term plan moving forward, a five-year plan for our police department, 10-year plan for our fire department, for how we’re going to replace the vehicles,” Jackson Mayor Scott Conger said.
