The release from JMCSS says Lewis has been in the role since 2016.
“Dr. Lewis is responsible for a number of improvements JMCSS has made in the last several years. From securing thousands of dollars in robotics grants for our middle schools, to enhancing the academic status of JCM-Early College High through Computer Science and Coding opportunities, Dr. Leis is a rising administrative star in this state and he’s taken the JCM brand to new heights each year,” said Dr. Marlon King, the superintendent for JMCSS.
Lewis says it has been his passion to help students.
“My passion has always been to help students in our community set and achieve their academic goals. We know formal education or technical training past high school are keys to success. And it’s our job as educators to encourage all students to find a path in those directions,” Lewis said.

“I’m thankful,” Helen Brooks, attendance and registration secretary at North Side High School, said.
“Relieved. It takes a weight off,” said Elizabeth Pickens, a fourth grade teacher at Denmark Elementary School.
“I feel more comfortable now going to work,” said North Side High School assistant principal Tony Brown.
Faculty and staff at Jackson-Madison County Schools received the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday as part of Phase 1B of the vaccine distribution.
The state of Tennessee originally had school employees farther down the list, but the group was moved up in late December.
“I’m very thankful the state puts the teachers and staff up there as necessary people to be out there working,” Brooks said.

JACKSON, Tenn. Jackson-Madison County Schools announced a new school board member has been sworn in.
The news release says Scott Gatlin was sworn in on Monday. Gatlin will be serving in the District 5 Position 2 post.
JMCSS says Gatlin has been in education since the early 1980s, serving as teacher, principal and superintendent.
“I’m a big believer in watching for the doors that God opens and walking through them. He opened the door for us to come to Jackson in an unmistakable way in 1997, and we did. He opened this door. I tend to not over think it and listen to His leading,” Gatlin said.
