Two letters regarding the project have been sent to MDEQ, causing some confusion among residents Share Updated: 5:44 PM CST Feb 11, 2021 The NCL Waste landfill project in Madison County is apparently still in play after reports circulated that the project had been abandoned. On Feb. 3, the MDEQ formally received a letter from NCL Waste, LLC requesting that the permit applications for the NCL Landfill project be withdrawn. The letter states the company s intent to abandon the project to pursue other opportunities. However, on Feb. 4 MDEQ officials say they received a second letter from Phoenix Waste, LLC, which reportedly owns 50 percent of NCL Waste, requesting the applications be maintained intact and not withdrawn.
