Deputy Brent Viator was off duty, but he said he had to jump into action Tuesday afternoon when he saw a family of ducks in potential danger. Helping the ducklings cross the busy four-lane Highway 51 in LaPlace became his priority before heading home, according to St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff s office.
