In the release, the district said safety and health of staff, students and community remains a top priority for the district as we get ready to start the year. The federal requirements of masks on federal transportation (buses) are being reviewed at the state level and when more information or direction is given, the staff, students, parents, and community will be informed.
The district will continue to recommend only at this time that masks and social distancing protocol take place when feasible.
JCSD Superintendent Charles Auzqui said, “It is the goal of the district to educate all kids in person and in the least restrictive learning environment.”
The Hospital Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center, during their meeting Wednesday night, approved their budget for 2022, which projects a net gain for the year.
Business Manger Becky Rodriguez gave the board her final projections for the 2022 budget, after putting in the final numbers from 2021.
She projects total operating revenue at $22.7 million; with operating expenses at $24.6 million for an operating loss of $1.8 million.
Adding non-operating revenue such as county mill levy funds, non-operating grants, and contributions of $1.9 million, Rodriguez projects a net gain of about $15,000.
The budget will be adjusted monthly throughout the year to reflect real numbers comparing them to projections.

The Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo is still searching for physicians to hire for the facility, and are having some trouble finding qualified applicants, according to discussions at their recent Hospital Board meeting.
Dr. Mark Schueler, speaking on behalf of absent Chief of Staff Dr. Ryan Ludwig, said the search has been more difficult than anticipated to find a replacement for himself when he steps down later this year.
There were three applicants but none were deemed good choices by the medical staff.
Dr. Schueler said there may be a number of factors contributing to the lack of
applicants.
The Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center voted to accept their proposed operating budget for the coming 2022 fiscal year.
Business Manager Becky Rodriguez went over her numbers for expected revenue and expenditures for the year before the board voted to accept.
The operating budget will be officially approved at a special meeting later this month.
Also approved was the 2022 capital budget for roughly $283,000; and the facility’s employee pension contribution which was approved at 3% of their annual salary.
The board also approved removing former board member Bill Dooley and former CEO Sean McCallister from the facility’s bank signature cards and adding new CEO Luke Senden.
