JCHC Gives Update on Status at EOC Briefing – Sheridan Media

The Johnson County Healthcare Center gave an update on their facility status during the latest Johnson County COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center (EOC) briefing. According to CEO Sean McCallister, the hospital was at near capacity, and although none of the patients were COVID-positive, that is still worrisome. McCallister said staffing on the medical campus is stable and looks fine at this time. The current construction projects, made possible with Federal CARES Act funding are wrapping up, which is a relief after a hectic last few months. The facility continues to dedicate a lot of time and energy to vaccinating their healthcare workforce, and although vaccinations are voluntary, they are holding forums and question and answer sessions to educate and inform their staff members to hopefully get vaccinated.

County EOC: Vaccinations Moving Into Next Phase – Sheridan Media

Robin King, with Public Health, said vaccinations have kept them busy during the last span class ”player fa fa-play” onclick ”playSound(this, ‘/audio/2020/01-06-41.mp3’);” week. /span Public health does not know when the next phase of vaccinations, 1c, will begin, and they are waiting from notifications from the State Department of Health, to let the public know when that happens. She said active cases of the virus continue to trend down, with only 13 current cases in the county. King said the latest update to the state public health orders removes the requirement for bars and restaurants to close at 10pm, and allows fitness classes to be expanded.

Johnson County Year-in-Review 2020: September-December – Sheridan Media

Today we will continue our look back at Johnson County’s top stories during the last year as we focus on September through December of 2020. Johnson County’s Shoreline Regulations concerning Lake DeSmet began review and discussion in September as requested by the county commissioners, who have been contacted by landowners wanting to make changes to their properties adjacent to the shoreline but are not allowed to do so under the regulations. Those discussions are ongoing. There was an attempted kidnapping in Buffalo in September. According to Johnson County Code Red, an attempt was made to kidnap a 12 year-old female by a white male in a newer pickup with no known license plate. No arrests have been made to date in the case.

Today we will begin our look back at Johnson County’s top stories during the last year as we focus on January through April of 2020. In January, former Buffalo Chamber of Commerce CEO Angela Fox filed an appeal of her convictions with the Wyoming Supreme Court. In May of 2019 Fox was found guilty of three counts of felony theft stemming from her use of chamber of commerce credit cards to make personal purchases for just over $8,600 and was sentenced to two to five years for each count, to run consecutively. Her sentence was suspended except for 90 days and she was given 10 years of supervised probation until restitution in the amount of just over $16,000 is paid to the chamber of commerce.
