Sheriff: More Arrests Possible in 13-Year-Old Florida Girl’s Murder Case
Sheriff’s officials in Florida issued an update on the death of 13-year-old girl Tristyn Bailey, saying that she was the victim of a “cold-blooded murder” and “not an accident,” while saying there could be more arrests.
St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick told the local station WOKV that there “could be forthcoming arrests” in the case.
“This case does not end with the unfortunate death of Tristyn and it doesn’t end with the arrest of our suspect. It ends when we get everything together and everything is exhausted. We have a long way to go,” Hardwick added to WOKV.

Sunday morning around 10 a.m., Tristyn s family reported her missing. Hours later, a neighbor found her body in the woods, just beyond the end of Saddlestone Drive in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood. The community helped us solve this case, St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick said Monday. When I say they went to work, they went to work. on social media, and we saw mems walk the woodline in church clothes looking for Tristyn.
Among a sea of aqua T-shirts, ribbons and other memorials the 13-year-old s favorite color thousands of gatherers came together to grieve the loss of Bailey, a student at Patriot Oaks Academy in St. Johns.
Bailey s body was found Sunday evening in the residential neighborhood in which she lived after the teen s parents reported her missing earlier that morning. A 14-year-old male classmate has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
One by one, or in small groups, young people in the close-knit community set flowers in front of a makeshift memorial made to honor Bailey at a neighborhood park in the south end of Durbin Crossing, just several miles from the amenities center where she was last seen at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
