Harris Teeter announces $100,000 commitment to UNC Charlotte’s Jamil Niner Student Pantry
Share Article MATTHEWS, N.C. (PRWEB) January 26, 2021 Harris Teeter announced today a partnership to combat food insecurity with UNC Charlotte. The partnership will allow the food pantry to stock and replenish shelves with much-needed items to support students in need.
The Jamil Niner Student Pantry provides assistance to UNC Charlotte students who struggle with food insecurity so that every student has access to nutritious food. The Pantry has remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic and is serving more students than ever before. Client numbers have doubled since March 2020, and the Pantry is receiving more food requests from nontraditional students with families, who are using the campus resource for the first time.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Harris Teeter and UNC Charlotte s Jamil Niner Student Pantry both have one thing in common.

Fighting hunger and raising awareness for food insecurity around the community also a priority.
In fact, it’s the foundation the Jamil Niner Student Pantry was built upon when its doors opened in October 2014.
But this pandemic s most popular food items like canned chicken, canned fruit, healthy cereal and oatmeal students who struggle with food insecurity rely on has been at an all-time low.
