We, therefore decked up the ground with colourful balloons on Tuesday to attract customers, said Md. Shamim, a footwear vendor who has been running a makeshift shop inside the Sakchi market for the last 12 years.
Another garment vendor Arun Kumar said, We are happy to shift to the new venue though many customers are not aware of the change. Gradually, they will come to know and we hope it will be business as usual in the days to come.
Covid test drive held across steel city Health, civic workers team up for three-hour effort
Civic authorities organised Covid-19 tests across several areas of the steel city on Wednesday, the RT-PCR test drive carrying on for a full three hours from 11am.
Officials of the East Singhbhum district health department with the help of police and workers of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) carried out the special drive at Sakchi market, Bistupur-based P&M Hi-Tech City Centre Mall and Golmuri Chowk, in addition to Sitaramdera Bus Terminus, Sonari, Khudiram Bose Chowk and Sankosai (both in Mango), Jugsalai, Baridih, Station Road and Pardih Chowk on NH-33.

JAMSHEDPUR: BJP leaders, workers and Bengali residents of the Steel City on Thursday took a strong exception to the removal of spectacles from the bust of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose installed at Aambagan Maidan by miscreants.
Senior BJP leader and candidate of the Jamshedpur West assembly seat, Devendra Singh, along with a large number of party workers demanded immediate repair of the bust.
Singh also informed authorities of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) about the incident and demanded complete repair of the bust before January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji. The saffron party leader later said JNAC has the taken the matter seriously and assured to repair the bust and the surrounding area soon apart from installing high-powered lights in the area.
