As the biting cold persists, East Singhbhum admin sets up bonfires across urban, rural areas | Ranchi News

Jamshedpur: As a cold wave grips the entire state, East Singhbhum administration has decided to set up bonfires across 30 public places in urban as well as rural areas. Railway stations, bus terminus, parking stands for autorickshaws and pavements in areas like Kadma, Sakchi, Mango, Dimna and Bagbera, to name a few, have been identified for this purpose. Deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar has asked the officials of all the three urban municipal bodies Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Mango Notified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality to conduct inspections and increase the number of bonfires, if required. Rural areas like Beltand and Katin will see bonfires being set up by the administration while the BDOs of Ghatshila sub-division have been asked to make bonfire arrangements in their respective block areas.

JAMSHEDPUR: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato has demanded that the Steel City civic body hands over keys of the community halls in the city and adjoining to the local committees. The civic body, however, said they keys were not returned since the accounts were not clear. The BJP MP met the special officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Krishna Kumar, at his office and questioned the officer why no initiative was being taken to hand over the keys to locals so that the buildings can be used for marriages and other social gatherings by the residents concerned. The keys were taken by the JNAC during the Covid-19 lockdown period so that no social gatherings are organised there. The civic body official informed that the keys were not returned since the committees were yet to pay the amounts for use of the halls before the lockdown period and because of non-transparency in their accounts.

Khairbani garbage treatment plant likely to be cancelled amid protests Over 500 residents demonstrate at Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee office against project The ambitious solid waste treatment plant at Khairbani village of Saraikela’s Govindpur panchayat is likely to fall through as locals protested strongly on Friday against its construction. The project was already stalled since 2013 for the same reason. Protesters on Friday demonstrated in front of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee office at Sakchi against the project and imposed a ‘Janata Curfew’ at its site in Khairbani. Over 500 agitators, under the banner of Gram Sabha Khairbani, Samutola, demonstrated in front of the office of the committee after a team of the civic body had inspected the site of the proposed solid waste treatment plant at Khairbani on Tuesday.

Special RT-PCR test drive in East Singhbhum | Ranchi News

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum administration undertook a special RT-PCR testing drive across all the 10 blocks of the district on Wednesday. The authorities have set a target of conducting 4,200 tests during the drive. The drive was launched a day after the state health department made it mandatory for those with symptoms to undergo RT-PCR test. The urban circle comprising the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) and the Jugsalai Municipality have been set a target of 1,500 tests. The Baharagora block and a part of the Jugsalai block were given a target of 400 tests each. While the target number for each of Potka, Dhalbhumgarh, Ghatshila, Musabani and Patamda blocks was 300. For Dumaria and Chakulia blocks, the number was 200 each.
