Jackets Drop Game 2 to Hokies

BLACKSBURG, Va. – No. 20 Georgia Tech baseball was unable to keep the momentum going on Saturday when it fell 7-0 to No. 12 Virginia Tech at English Field. The Yellow Jackets (16-14, 13-10 ACC) were held to just four hits on the night – two of which came from Tres Gonzalez – while the Hokies (20-11, 15-8 ACC) pieced together 10 hits for seven runs. Tech Closes Out Regular Season at Boston College This Sunday

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis closes out the 2021 regular season on Sunday, April 18 on the road against Boston College in Weymouth, Ma. The No. 32 Yellow Jackets head into the weekend with an 11-8 record, sporting a 5-6 record in conference play. The match will serve as both the Jackets and Eagles (2-11, 0-11 ACC)  final regular season competition prior to the start of ACC Men’s Tennis Championships in Rome, Ga., next week. Tech is fresh off a 5-2 win over Louisville last week at its last home competition of the year. Overall the Yellow Jackets are 79-46 (.632) in singles and 37-27 (.578) in doubles heading into the match.

Softball Knocks Off No 15 Virginia Tech

Emma Kauf homered twice and Blake Neleman threw her sixth complete game of the season to lead Georgia Tech softball to an impressive 6-4 win at No. 15 Virginia Tech on Friday evening at Tech Softball Park. Kauf hit a solo home run to open the scoring in the second inning then blasted a two-run shot in the fifth to give Georgia Tech (13-20, 7-16 ACC) a commanding 6-2 lead. She also singled and scored in the fourth inning to finish 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. With her two homers, the freshman pulled into a tie for the team lead with eight on the season.

No. 14 Jackets Host Boston College Sunday THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis returns to the court for its final regular season match on Sunday, welcoming Boston College in a rescheduled contest. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. The 14th-ranked Yellow Jackets (14-9, 7-5 ACC) played their final two road matches this past weekend, bringing home a pair of wins from Louisville and Notre Dame. Tech upended the Cardinals, 5-2, before topping the Fighting Irish, 4-3. Riding a five-match win streak, freshman Mahak Jain clinched Tech’s win at Notre Dame from the five spot in a three-set battle. Jain boasts a 12-6 overall singles record and is 5-2 against ACC opponents.

THE FLATS – Drew Compton smashed a two-run homer in the fourth to cut it to one but No. 20 Georgia Tech baseball couldn’t hang on and fell 7-3 to Auburn on Tuesday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium. The Yellow Jackets (15-13) were held to just four hits overall, with Tres Gonzalez, Andrew Jenkins and Austin Wilhite joining the one-hit efforts. Gonzalez also drew two more walks to remain among the ACC’s leaders in bases on balls with 25 overall this season, while Luke Waddell scored the third run on a sac fly.
