Minor girl among three people killed in accidents

Three people, including a minor girl, were killed in separate accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday, according to details shared by police officials.
Eight-year-old Aliza Imran was killed and her parents suffered injuries when a speeding trailer hit their motorbike in Korangi. The victims were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The trailer’s driver Rizwan Bilal has been arrested.
Separately, a cleaner was crushed to death while he was working under a trailer after the driver accidentally started the vehicle and moved it forward. The driver has been arrested.

KARACHI: A suspected drug peddler, whom police did not name, allegedly killed a policeman in an attempt to flee during a police raid early on Monday morning.
Police claimed to have arrested him later from Clifton along with an accomplice.
On a tip-off, police conducted a raid near a petrol pump in Tauheed Commercial area. During the action, the wanted suspect tried to escape in a vehicle and hit police constable Mir Mohammad Memon with the vehicle in the attempt.
Five students were slightly injured after their school bus overturned near Baloch Colony on Monday. Ambulances from different welfare organistions reached the scene and transported the injured.
Unidentified men threw the body of a woman from a car in Baldia Town on Saturday.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Ittehad Town police station. The woman, who was later identified as 43-year-old Jamiyat Bibi, alias Nazu, wife of Khani Zaman, had been shot.
Upon receiving the information, a police team reached the scene and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital, Karachi. Police said the woman was a resident of Sector 9D in Baldia Town.
According to the witnessesâ accounts, unidentified persons threw the body from a running car and escaped. Police said they were looking for the relatives of the deceased woman to get help in the investigations. They added that they were also looking for CCTV footage. Further investigations are under way.
KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspect over charges of extortion.
The paramilitary force along with police conducted an intelligence-based action in Surjani Town and detained the suspect, Shahbaz Khan, said the Rangers spokesperson.
He had demanded Rs500,000 in protection money from a trader of Taiser Town on January 9 and sent a chit containing a bullet to the trader and threatened him with kidnapping his son in case of non-payment.
The trader called the suspect at a place for giving him the money and in the meantime, he also informed the Rangers helpline.
The paramilitary force utilising modern technology tools detained the suspect from the place where he had gone to collect the cash. He was handed over to the police for further legal action.
