OXFORD â The Granville County Chamber of Commerceâs board has hired Lauren Bennett Roberson as the business groupâs new executive director.
Roberson is a Vance County native and also familiar with Granville County. She has a history in the area that includes working with her family business, Hillside Farms in Vance County. She also has experience in marketing and social media.
Board members say Roberson brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to the position and an innovative spirit that will serve as a basis for growing and supporting our membership.
âI am honored to be accepting the role of executive director of the Granville County Chamber of Commerce,â Roberson said. âThe Chamber has and will continue to be a vital part of the county by advocating for our members and shining a spotlight on this thriving community. I love Granville County and cannot wait to meet with and show our members and potential members what the Chamber has to offer them.â
OXFORD â The Granville County Chamber of Commerce is ramping up efforts to find a new executive director following the retirement of Ginnie Currin in December.
Chamber President Cecilia Wheeler said that everything has been running smoothly since Currinâs departure but she is looking forward to finding a permanent replacement for the executive director position within the next few weeks.
âWe currently have an interim director in Vanessa Jones,â Wheeler said. âShe is holding that position while we conduct the search, which has just been reposted on Indeed and our chamber website and it will run through May 31.â
Wheeler knew that it would be difficult to replace someone who brought the experience and knowledge Currin possessed during her 23-year stint as the executive director, adding that everyone wanted to take their time in finding the ideal successor.
