The average Columbus-area home cost nearly $300,000 in April, $40,000 more than a year ago, according to figures released Friday by Columbus Realtors.
April s average sales price was $291,900, almost 17% higher than last April s $250,409. In the past five years, the average price of a central Ohio home has risen nearly $100,000.
Rising prices show no signs of dampening demand, which is fueled by exceptionally low interest rates and stay-at-home workers. Sales of central Ohio homes jumped 23% in April over last April (when the pandemic was starting to take hold).
Homes sold in an average of 16 days during the month, a record low for central Ohio. Homes under $350,000 were listed only 13 days before selling, on average.
