Govt proposes 19% hike in fare Govt proposes 19% hike in fare Gopal Sharma JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Feb 24: After the Government agreed on 19% hike in transport fare, the Jammu and Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association today called off its proposed indefinite strike in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Transport Commissioner, J&K Pradeep Kumar said that during meeting of the Transport Association representatives at the Civil Secretariat today most of the issues of the transporters were resolved. He said a hike of 19 % fare was agreed during the meeting. This proposal of Fare and Freight Committee headed by Commissioner/ Secretary Finance is being forwarded to the Administrative Council for final approval.
