Convicted sex offender arrested near Encinal for crossing the border illegally

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a sex offender who was in the country illegally, authorities said.
The incident occurred Thursday morning near Encinal, where agents encountered a group of seven people walking through a remote ranch land area southwest of Encinal. All were determined to be immigrants who were in the country illegally.
One individual was identified as Juan Jose Garcia-Ortiz, a 26-year-old Mexican citizen. A records check revealed he had been arrested by Williamson County Sheriff s Office and was convicted of felony online solicitation of a minor-sexual conduct on Feb. 12, 2020 in Georgetown, Texas.
