RISING SUN â The board of town commissioners introduced two ordinances â approving one and setting aside another Tuesday night â both of which are geared toward preparation for the approaching building boom.
Ordinance 2021-02 was passed unanimously by emergency vote. Ordinance 2021-03 was introduced with a vote set for a later date by the Rising Sun Commissioners.
With infrastructure roadblocks behind them, and vacancies on the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, the elected board moved to amend the requirements to serve on both boards and to offer compensation for that service. All of these changes also bring the town charter in line with Marylandâs annotated code, specifically Article 66-B Land Use and Development.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. Pretty in purple, Diana Erickson left Hanover Area High School happy, as she and her husband were able to get their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from Walmart. I m glad we re both had the shots. We have one more to go. So that s good news. Hey, everybody should get them. It s a good thing, Erickson from Swoyersville.
She wasn t alone; many stood in line to get their shots too. We had an appointment. We were waiting to see when they were going to open up to get the vaccine. And as soon as we heard about this while we got him on the list. And so we re now here trying to do what we re supposed to do it, explained Judith Fisher of Glen Lyon.

Editor s note: The overwhelming majority of people in religious life who have been accused of sexual abuse have been men. Credible accusations have also been made against women religious, but there has been relatively little coverage of those cases. As an independent, nonprofit source of news and information about Catholic sisters, Global Sisters Report devotes most of its resources to the good work sisters perform around the world. But we re committed to telling the full story of women religious, and that includes stories like this one. This is Part 1 of a two-part series. Part 2 will publish Feb. 25.
