NEW RICHMOND The Social Justice Advisory Group is seeking submissions from local artists of all ages and skill levels to be considered for a community mural project.
The Social Justice Advisory Group began as a community engagement effort facilitated by the city in July of 2020.Â
A peaceful march for Justice had just taken place the month before on June 7, 2020. Sensing the time might be right to gage citizensâ take on the growing national movement to recognize and address numerous social justice issues, the city used its Facebook page to solicit feedback from residents by asking three questions:Â
1. What is your story/experience as a community member living in New Richmond?
Irwin named ACEL distinguished student
Allyson Irwin
WHEELERSBURG Allyson Irwin, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, has been named a 2021 Distinguished Senior by the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership at The Ohio State University. Irwin, along with 13 other seniors, was selected by the faculty and staff of the department for her excellence both in and out of the classroom.
“ACEL has outstanding students, and we are excited to recognize these 14 seniors for their exceptional efforts in and outside of the classrooms,” said Dr. Shannon Washburn, professor and chair of ACEL. “We know they will succeed in their chosen career paths because of the dedication they have shown to their academics and community involvement.”
Representatives of regional public health networks said more than 300 people signed on to help with distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Seacoast and Strafford County areas via the NH Responds online form.
While currently uncertain how many vaccine distribution sites will be needed, Scott Schuler, incident commander for Strafford County and Seacoast Public Health Networks, said each site will need about 10 to 15 volunteers.
“And we’re so overwhelmed by the community who are looking to help,” Schuler said, adding that, while the form is still active online, recruitment is currently closed for those looking to help with the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
