WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Jefferson County Public Health is seeing several cases in which people with COVID-19 symptoms think they have allergies.
Officials say people are going to work or socializing for several days before getting a COVID-19 test.
And that means the virus spreads to other people.
“It is important to remain vigilant,” officials said in a release. “Social distancing, masking, and quarantine activities are proven effective measures to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

All Iowans 16 years and older can now get a COVID-19 vaccine, but about half of the state’s counties are now declining additional doses because of low turnout.
Keokuk County Public Health Director Allie Helmuth says they declined their 100-dose Moderna allotment from the state this week, yet they still have vaccine appointments available. She says their goal is to vaccinate as many people as possible and residents from outside the county are also welcome to contact her department. This comes after the county dealt with not receiving enough vaccines for weeks which put them near the bottom in the state for doses administered.

Just down the road from Virgilio s Pizzeria and Wine Bar is the imaginary line between Douglas and Jefferson counties that s causing real issues for local business owner Virgilio Urbano. It just doesn’t seem to make sense that the county line is the barrier for the virus, Urbano said.
When the state expired it s COVID dial system for COVID restrictions on restaurants and bars, it left each county to deal with the pandemic individually.
