UPDATE: Woman killed on Lakeshore Parkway identified

From The Tribune staff reports UPDATE: The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal Wednesday-morning accident on Lakeshore Parkway as 41-year-old Tiffany Denise Pritchett, of Birmingham. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates says Pritchett was walking along the shoulder of the roadway when she was struck by a white Ford Taurus at around 11:21 a.m. Wednesday. The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. EARLIER: BIRMINGHAM A woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle on Lakeshore Parkway Wednesday morning. According to authorities, the pedestrian was hit shortly before noon on June 9 in the 500 block of Lakeshore Parkway.

Apartment shooting leaves 1 dead in north Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM An overnight shooting has left one man dead in north Birmingham. The incident took place at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of 4th Avenue North around 1:26 a.m. Thursday, according to authorities. A report from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office says the victim sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault. The decedent was transported to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. The coroner’s office says the victim’s identity has not yet been determined. Birmingham police are investigating the case as a homicide. The department has released a report suggesting that a suspect is believed to have fired shots at the victim from a vehicle before fleeing the scene.
