The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports rising water forced residents out of their homes in
the rural areas of the county, primarily in the Hamshire and Fannett areas. Nearly 18 inches of
rain fell yesterday, with more heavy rain expected on Wednesday. The sheriff’s office is asking
residents not to drive through high water on the roadways. It creates wakes and forces water into
homes.
