BESSEMER The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified a man found dead after an RV fire on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
The body of Michael Earnest Seals, 62, of Bessemer, was found by fire personnel reporting to a trailer fire. The fire happened at a private residence in the 600 block of Willow Bend Lane, in Bessemer, around 7:42 a.m. Seals was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:55 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

FORESTDALE An 83-year-old man involved in a head-on collision in April has died, according to Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates.
George M. Pody, of Birmingham, died 24 days after the crash near Forestdale.
Coroner Bill Yates said Pody was taken to UAB Hospital on April 15, after the crash on Forestdale Boulevard, between Haven Drive and Lanewood Drive. Yates said a Chevrolet Silverado crossed over the centerline, striking the Volkswagen Atlas that Pody was driving.
Pody was transported to UAB Hospital where he died on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash.
FHP arrests kidnapper in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) â The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a kidnapping suspect after a multi-agency pursuit ended in Madison County, Florida on Monday morning.
According to FHP, a 16-year-old female was kidnapped in Alabama on May 9, 2021. The suspect took the victim and her vehicle and traveled into Georgia, where a pursuit began just after midnight on May 10, 2021, in Brooks County.
Georgia State Patrol and Brooks County Sheriffâs Office Deputies followed the suspect into Madison County, Fla., where the FHP joined.
Shortly after FHP joined, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed and the suspect fled on foot.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - An 83-year-old Birmingham man died several weeks after a crash in Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County coroner said George M. Pody was driving on Forestdale Blvd when he was struck head on by someone driving a truck who crossed over into Podyâs lane.
It happened on the morning of April 15th on Forestdale Blvd between Haven Drive and Lanewood Drive.
Pody died at UAB hospital on Saturday, May 9.
The cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriffâs Office.
